Emmanuel Egbogah Foundation to hold 12th Legacy Lecture series come September 14

    Emmanuel Egbogah Foundation has concluded plans to hold the 12th Legacy Lecture Series on September 14, 2023 with the theme: Climate Change and Geopolitics of Energy Transition at Emmanuel Egbogah Building, Uniport Emerald Energy Institute , Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

    The Chairman of the Occasion will be the Managing Director, Newcross Exploration and Production Company Limited, Victor Sodje, while the Keynote Speaker will be Chidi Ibe, a Professor of Oceanography and the Blue Economy/Industry Expert, (Energy, Environment and Climate Change).

     

    The 2023 EELLS according to the Executive Director, EEF, Wumi Iledare, a Professor of Petroleum Economics, is on schedule for September 14, 2023, coinciding with the 80th Birthday  of Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah, OON (1942 – 2018). The 12th EELLS also marks the fifth anniversary of the departure to eternity of Dr E.

    He pointed out that the legacy of Dr E, prosperity for posterity, remains worthy celebration and propagation in the post PIA Era in Nigeria within the context of the evolving energy resources and supply landscape.

     

    The Foundation is working for the development of the energy industry and the implementation of energy efficiency technologies geared increasing energy security, sustainable economic benefits, independence, self-reliance and maximum social welfare of Nigerians.

     

    “All the programs at EEF are tailored to facilitate the transformation of the energy and petroleum industry in Nigeria. A key aspect of the foundation is the endowment of a graduate research fellowship and internship in Nigerian universities in the areas of learning and research, which support the Foundation’s goals”, he said.

     

    “The foundation seeks to sponsor the graduate education of deserving scholars to any of Dr Egbogah’s affiliated universities in Nigeria and Africa.

    It also organizes and sponsors capacity building conferences, the biennial Petroleum roundtable in Abuja and Lagos and the biennial Emmanuel Egbogah Legacy Lecture Series on petroleum and energy-related issues.

    This is in addition to capacity building workshops that aim to partner with training firms to organize workshops that promote University Advancement and develop capacity for the petroleum industry”, he added.

     

    The Vision of EEF is aimed at advancing knowledge and national capacity for managing petroleum and energy resources for optimal economic benefits and maximum social welfare of Nigerians. The Mission is to build on the lofty goals and achievements of Dr Emmanuel Egbogah, OON, through his endowments in higher education.

     

    Dr Emmanuel Egbogah was a recognized authority on petroleum policy, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), stimulation procedures, and a multidisciplinary team approach to field development planning and reservoir management. Dr Emmanuel Egbogah was the founder and executive chairman of Emerald Energy Resources. He was the Presidential Adviser on Petroleum Matters to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Member, National Economic Management Team and Chairman of the Governing Board, Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

     

    He served as African Union Peace Ambassador to Sudan in the role of Chairman, Petroleum Monitoring Committee, responsible for the implementation of the Agreements on Oil and Related Economic Matters between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan. He was the Technical Advisor and Technology Custodian for the Malaysian Oil and Gas Company, PETRONAS.

     

    The Foundation supports Energy technology education and human capital development. It has endowments in some academic institutions such as Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt, Bioenergy Research Laboratory, University of Port Harcourt, Emmanuel Egbogah Building, University of Ibadan and a Round Table at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

    Others are Bells University of Technology, Ota, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and Lagos State University, Lagos.
