The Nigerian Gas Association, NGA, the umbrella body and the voice of the operators and players in the country’s gas value chain, has hailed the appointment of Olu Verheijen as the Special Adviser on Energy to the newly sworn-in President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The leadership of the NGA described Verheijen’s appointment as well-deserved and an exemplary validation of her hard work, superior dedication to her professional endeavours and a testament to Olu’s competence, expertise, and outstanding contributions to the energy industry in Nigeria, especially the gas sector.
Commenting, the President of Nigeria Gas Association, Akachukwu Nwokedi, said, “We have no doubt that your role as a member of the Policy Advisory Council set up by the President will be instrumental in charting a new trajectory in the country’s energy policy environment, and it is heartening to see that your efforts have been acknowledged at the highest levels of government.
“As Special Adviser on Energy, you have been tasked with a critical responsibility, and we are confident that you will excel in your new role. I am convinced that your wealth of experience and knowledge in the energy sector will be invaluable to the President and the nation”, he added.
Similarly, the reputable Association also commended the Chairman of Innoson Group of Companies Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, for the successful launch of their locally produced IVM City Bus 6115, a wholly locally-assembled gas-powered [Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, mass transit vehicles in Nigeria.
The Association hailed Innosson’s feat as a remarkable achievement and a testament to the ingenuity of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing in producing vehicles that will run on natural gas, Nigeria’s most endowed natural resource, as the fuel of choice for transportation in the country.
Akachukwu said the milestone development came at the most auspicious period following the full deregulation and the Federal Government’s complete removal of petrol subsidies.
“We commend Chukwuma for his commitment to innovation and sustainability. His efforts to promote natural gas as a cleaner, more efficient, and more cost-effective alternative to conventional fuels in mass transportation have our full support. Innosson’s leadership in developing and deploying gas-powered vehicles will significantly help reduce the country’s carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable future for all Nigerians”.
The Nigerian Gas Association is the umbrella body and the voice of the operators and players in the country’s entire gas value chain. The NGA, which comprises International and indigenous players engaged in the whole gas sector in Nigeria, is responsible for promoting and protecting the interests of the gas industry in Nigeria for the benefit of the nation and its stakeholders. The body is also a full-chartered member of the International Gas Union, IGU, representing Nigeria on the Council of the global gas organisation.
