The Nigerian Energy Support Programme, NESP, has finalized plans to hold Energise Clean Energy job fair and E-Mobility Conference come April 5th and 7th 2022, respectively in Lagos.

This was made known in a statement by the  NESP, which was made available to Energy Frontier.

Energize – the clean energy job fair: The rapidly growing Nigerian Renewable Energy / Energy Efficiency, RE/EE, Sector requires skilled workforce.

“NESP in collaboration with Renewable Energy an Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance (REEEA-Alliance) have identified the need to establish an employability platform where professionals and RE/EE actors (potential employers which include Developers, Discos and Development Cooperation ) can easily collaborate while boosting employment opportunities to bridge the skills gap in the sector”, NESP said.

ENERGIZE according to the group is one of the products of the vision to facilitate recruitment channels for professionals in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector in Nigeria. ENERGIZE! is only the first step towards establishing a skills-matching collaboration platform that will ultimately provide a career pathway and opportunities for the skilled workforce in the rapidly growing sector.

So also the Unveiling Electric Vehicles in rural and peri-urban communities comes up on Thursday April 7, 2022 in Lagos.

“With the aim to increase access to electricity in rural and peri-urban communities in Nigeria using sustainable business models, NESP in its second phase, has been working with different stakeholders to perform Monitoring and Evaluation activities across the six existing mini-grid communities, that were supported under NESP I”, added NESP.

This according to NESP includes implementing a methodology to stimulate and improve energy demand and usage to ultimately enhance the communities’ economic development. As part of the methodology, an electric vehicle, EV, pilot project was conducted at one of the solar mini-grid communities and this has produced insights on the potentials of EVs in rural and peri-urban communities.

“In view of the above, NESP in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Power is organising an event to bring together key stakeholders within the e-mobility, power sector and mini-grid sphere. The aim of the event is to discuss and share knowledge, insights and lessons learned from the pilot project whilst also aligning on the way forward to promote e-mobility in rural and peri-urban communities in Nigeria”, the organization stressed.

NESP is a technical assistance programme, co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ, GmbH in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power, FMP. The programme which started in December 2018 and is running until May 2023, builds upon a first phase (March 2013 – November 2017) and aims to foster investments for Renewable Energy, RE, and Energy Efficiency, EE, and to improve access to electricity for disadvantaged, rural communities.

NESP operates in three components, namely: Electrification Planning and Data Management, Sustainable Energy Access On- & Off-Grid and Enabling Environment for RE and EE Investment. A cross-cutting topic is Capacity Development in the energy sector.
