Access Bank looses staff at Onne branch

    Access Bank, has lost a staff at its branch in an oil-rich town of Onne, quarantined over 20 others and shut down the branch for disinfection.

    The bank, which stated in a statement that it mourned the staff, assured the public of its commitment to the fight against the dreaded infection.

    “We have received unfortunate confirmation of the loss of our staff who until his death worked at our Onne Branch, Rivers State.

    “Our thoughts and prayers are with our deceased colleague’s family at this time as we pray for his eternal rest,” the bank said.

    It added: ‘In line with our COVID-19 Business Continuity Plan, the branch has been shut down for immediate disinfection and will only be reopened once we certify that it is safe enough for services to resume.

    “Colleagues and customers who had been in contact with the late employee have also been advised to self-isolate following guidelines provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

    “The safety of all our stakeholders remains paramount to Access Bank as we have deployed robust health and safety measures at all our branches including frequently disinfecting our buildings and locations; making use of face masks by customers and staff mandatory; checking of temperature before admittance into our premises; provision of hand sanitizers which must be used before entry into the banking halls and ATM areas; constantly disinfecting of teller counters and customer service tables and ensuring social distancing at all times.

    “We assure the public that we will remain resolute in our commitment to curtail the spread of COVID-19, doing all we can to protect our customers, employees and communities. We ask that we all continue to stay safe.”
